This was built with Gemini in vanilla JavaScript. The renderer includes the vector and matrix math, triangle drawing and depth buffer. It projects the scene’s geometry, rasterizes the triangles, and turns the result into a new frame of characters.

The earlier ASCII Wolfenstein experiment used raycasting. This one has actual scene geometry going through that renderer, with no Three.js scene underneath it. Here’s what it looks like running.
